Thing 3: Set up an RSS Account & Add Feeds

From reading other 23-blogs I thought this was going to be easier than it was. I could easily add URLs and blogs, but when I went to the "Readers Club" link, it wanted to add the feed to the IE folder on the computer. I couldn't figure out how to add it to Google Reader. After an hour of "playing" around, I gave up! Hopefully I will learn from someone else how this can be done.

I can see the usefulness, but will need to find some feeds specific to my needs -- then this service will be useful. So --- now to find the time to search for feeds.

Until next time -- I continue to be challenged by each of the 23 Things I am presented!!

Thing 2: What is Library 2.0?

I found this to be very interesting information. I did not realize there was such a controversy going on concerning 2.0 (and maybe it no longer exists, since the info was from back in 2006).
I am glad that I am doing this over the summer, as I have more "free" time to spend on researching and learning.
I have always liked technology and am excited about how I can bring more of it into the library at our college. Yet I realize that anything I bring in, I will also have to train the faculty on -- most students seem to already know about the many aspects of Web 2.0.
I am looking forward to now actually doing some of the things that I have heard about yet have not taken the time to teach myself; I'm so glad for the 23 Things that will help me become familiar with the world or our students -- and the future of society and libraries!

Thing 1 : Set Up Your Blog

WOW!!! This took longer than I thought it would. I was really glad that another person and I were working through it together. I enjoyed it -- especially creating my avatar. I now plan to take that bit of knowledge home to my daughter to use for her MySpace page.
